The Optimist Community Mental Health Outpatient
Program provides therapy and psychiatric care to
children and youth who are living with their families.
Individual therapy is used to treat the effects of trauma,
problems in social relationships, and/or family problems
effecting the client’s emotional well-being.
The role of parents as partners in the treatment process
is highly emphasized in the client’s mental health program.
Parents are included in the development of the treatment
plan, in family therapy sessions whenever possible, and
in collateral sessions to focus on their role as parents.
Community Mental Health clinics are located in
Los Angeles and in Palmdale.
Optimist also has staff at Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall who
offer mental health services to incarcerated youth and recently added substance abuse
counseling to this location, as well.
