PROGRAMS & SERVICES
In the arts and crafts workshop, residents are taught various
artistic methods and are encouraged to utilize art as a means
of creative expression. With the helpful guidance of the
recreation staff, residents are challenged to use materials
such as acrylic, paint, charcoal, graphite, chalk, and clay.
To serve as motivation for exemplary effort, the staff attempt to
select one piece of artwork each month to display and the resident
who created the piece is recognized.
Some of the other activities offered in the workshop include model car building, ceramics painting, participation in a chalk walk, and designing soapbox derby cars which are eventually raced. Residents are also taken to art galleries and museums throughout Los Angeles and exposed to many different types of art.
